Everything We Know So Far About the iPhone 8

As 2017 progresses, more and more rumors emerge about the 10th anniversary iPhone, this year’s iPhone 8. There are a number of impressive features expected to be included in Apple’s soon to be revealed new flagship smartphone. Here is everything we know so far about the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 is generating a great deal of excitement here at http://justgoodbites.com/, especially since it is supposed to be a major departure from the iPhone 6, 6s and 7, all of which sported an identical design. Instead, the new phone is rumored to be revisiting the design of the iPhone 4 and 4s from 2010 and 2011, with a glass body surrounded by a metallic frame. Some experts believe the iPhone 8’s screen will have slightly curved edges similar to what Samsung has included in many of its smartphones since 2014’s Galaxy Note Edge.

While it’s currently uncertain whether Apple will actually include a curved screen, the screen itself is believed to be larger than what has appeared on all previous generations of the iPhone thus far. The screen will be an edge to edge display that utilizes OLED technology, making colors deeper and more vibrant and blacks truly black. The screen size will measure in at 5.8 inches, compared to the iPhone 7 Plus’ 5.5 inch display.

One of the more radical changes with the anniversary iPhone is that it will lack the usual bezels for iPhones are known as well as the Home button. Instead of a physical Home button or even the redesigned virtual one included on the iPhone 7, the iPhone 8 won’t have it at all. There have been two rumors swirling about the new button; one is that the Touch ID sensor will be built right into the phone’s display; and the other is that there will be an all-new physical Home button situated at the back of the device below the Apple logo.

Another feature that’s expected to finally appear in the iPhone 8 is wireless charging. The technology has been included in other smartphones throughout the years, including mid-range phones like the Nokia Lumias sporting Windows Phone 8. It will be interesting to see how Apple incorporates wireless charging into the anniversary iPhone as not much has been mentioned about it.

Like the new Home button, the camera is said to be integrated into the iPhone 8’s display. Some renders have also shown Siri in a similar position. Additional rumors claim that this year’s iPhone may also have what is being called a “function area,” which is said to be similar to the Touch Bar featured in last year’s brand new MacBook Pro.

Of course, the iPhone 8 will pick up where the iPhone 7 left off and will not include a headphone jack. Likewise, it will also be water resistant so that you can accidentally spill a drink on it and not have to panic. It remains to be seen whether Apple will do away with its Lightning port and incorporate a USB-C port for charging instead. However, it’s worth noting that at the five-year anniversary mark, when the company released its iPhone 5 in 2012, the Lightning port made its debut. Therefore, it’s not too far-fetched to believe there will be a USB-C port, especially as the last few MacBooks were built with them.

Time is ticking away, which means we’re getting even closer to seeing what Apple has up its sleeve. All that’s left to do now is to continue waiting with bated breath.
