The Keys to a Successful Family Living

Having a family is never easy but if you know how to respect each other, practice self-discipline and even having open lines of communication with one another then everything will go smoothly. Keep in mind that there is a difference between peaceful living and being silent. By peaceful living it means living a family life that practice respect for individual differences, knowing when is the right time to interfere with personal issues of other members in the family and of course effective communication.

1. Practice Utmost Respect to Everyone

Knowing when to acknowledge a certain achievement done by one of your family members is a good way of showing you are paying attention to them and you are affectionate too. In a family appreciation can be done whenever you respect the views and opinions of your loved ones as well as their personal belongings. For instance, if someone feels vexed or they feel lonely then don’t just shrug it off. Ask them what’s going on and the reasons why they are having such gloomy face. Don’t feel like you have to do something in order to fix the problem because this is their own battle, what you can do is to be their for them and give them support in anyway you can.

Another way of showing respect is to be courteous in what you do. Even those simple thank you and please is already a sign of being polite. You can even ask them how did their day turn out and just listen to what they are sharing.

Another thing that you need to know is that respect for a person’s ideas doesn’t mean you will conform to what they are telling you. You can probably share what you have in mind too. There might be moments that you feel so happy with the line of thinking that your kids have but there would also be times that their thoughts are just not appropriate. If the ideas they have are a bit raw or not really good then the wisdom of adults comes very helpful. The way children see this world is entirely different. If you are able to listen to what they are really thinking you’ll be surprise how wonderful it is and you can even learn something from it. It is also a good thing if you are able to explain why a particular concept will not do good but nonetheless you can let them explore and apply their ideas as long as it won’t harm them.

Seemingly, many people seemed to forget age when they talk to a person older than them or younger than them thus it is really important to practice respect for one another within the family. One of the common reasons why people don’t bother listening to what others has to say is that they feel like the ideas they have are just senseless and absurd. At this point, those people has their entire lifetime to learn things and understand the essence of respect.
