Before you Google how to separate pdf pages, it is important to know at least a little bit about the history of the search engine that you are using to look up information.

The giant technology company is based out of Mountain View, California and has been around for 20 years. Google works in internet services not only limited to searching information. Google also develops software that has multipurpose functions such as email, photo and video storage, and even helping you organize your calendar. Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in 1998 while both were attending Stanford University as Ph. D. students, however, the original algorithm used to search for information was known as BackRub. Following the completion of the algorithm, Stanford used the domain on their homepage prior to the domain of google.com being registered in September of 1997. By the final years of the 20th century, Google was able to search through around 60 million different websites. Early publicity of Google made statements that the new and innovative search engine was faster and of better quality than Excite, Yahoo!, MSN, and even Hotbot. Due to their success and growing company, Google offices were moved several times before finding its home in Mountain View, California. Due to the simple design of the company’s logo, Google gained a following of loyal investors and fans alike. Google also decided to limit the use of ads on their search engine to simple text ads that would limit the amount of space used on each page of the search engine.

As for Microsoft, the company was founded 1975 by Paul Allen and Bill Gates. The idea for Microsoft started with both Gates and Allen wanting to improve upon and develop programming language. The original name was even known as MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems). The company would go on to change the name to a combination of both software and microcomputer. The company is now a part of xbox, Microsoft office, and an alternative search engine called Bing.

Both Microsoft and Google have started off small and have grown beyond the wildest dreams of their founders. We’ve even reached a point in society where it is almost impossible to go a day without using one of their software systems. They will continue to do so as well.
