Why DDoS Protection is Critical

When you have your business website visible online, you are always exposed to a cyber attack. Hackers are always on the lookout for the vulnerability of sites which can cause a threat to your site data and thus, severe damage to your business, not to mention, your online reputation. A very common occurrence of such kind is the Denial of Service Attack. Also called a DoS attack, it happens when your site server is flooded with user requests. This overloads the site and delays the response time, thus causing the pages to load very slow and sometimes, even a crash.

When the DoS attack happens from multiple sources, using bots, it is known as a Distributed Denial of Service attack. Or, commonly known as a DDoS attack. Any kind of website, irrespective of the size, volume, or the kind of business it represents, can suffer from a DDoS attack.

Effects of DDoS

These attacks do not look like apparent threats and can often be disguised in the form of slow page loading, page errors, random page shutdowns, or even a network connectivity issue. While these symptoms can be easily diagnosed as technical glitches, the chances are that they are the onset of a DDoS attack. Look out for repeated occurrences of such symptoms and their intensity, so you can be better prepared with a solution.

Reducing chances of conversion

The attack is designed and executed using botnets and creates a false impression of a large scale attack on your site. This can slow down the pages, and so naturally, that your site visitors often experience a slowdown. Repeated slow loading can eventually cause the site traffic to bounce off from your page. This can result in a loss of revenue by losing chances of possible conversions.
